T Bourke are partially complete on a new dual fuel gas burner changeover to Cork University Hospital’s Energy Centre. The project which is taking place on a phased basis to insure no disruption to the hospital comprises of boiler shut down, burner removal, new dual fuel burner install and commission to three large industrial boilers of 4.3MW each.
New Saacke dual fuel burners are been installed which will run primarily on natural gas. The burners have the capability of quickly switching to oil should they be required for maintenance or emergency situation. The burners offer better efficiency and turn down ratios to the large hospital load.
Works are set to complete over the summer months. The program was scheduled inline with reduced hospital load and affording no break in service to the campus. T Bourke are well experienced in this field having completed similar works at Mullingar General hospital and the National Aquatic Centre boiler replacement.
